DESCRIPTION
PBDelta is a utility designed to highlight the differences between versions of PowerBuilder application source files. PBDelta is specifically design to compare PowerBuilder objects and produces a tailored results view which is easier and more accurate that a standard 'diff' tool. PBDelta improves the standard diff type tools in three ways: PBDelta allows you to diff multiple selections of files or folders, you can select a PowerBuilder library and compare it against an exported set of source files, or you can compare a recursive project folder against another project folder from an older version.PBDelta understands PowerBuilder source code, when PowerBuilder saves or regenerates objects it quite often moves blocks of code around inside the source file. When using an ordinary diff tool these will show up as changes and waste your time examining the changes to find out it was not a change you made. PBDelta parses the source code and performs the compare against this parsed version so changes in the sequence of the file do not show up saving you time. Because PBDelta understands PowerBuilder source code it also displays the differences in a more user friendly layout, with all the functions grouped together with each type of information displayed on different tabs of the interface.PBDelta merges code. PBDelta allows you to undelete functions, reverse property changes and add removed sections of code from the old object back into the new object. PBDelta will then create a new Source file based on your selections, which will import straight back into PowerBuilder, saving you time and reducing errors retyping and applying changes manually. |
