Time required: 27-32 minutes
By the end of this Mini Lesson, students will be able to...
- describe the purpose and process of summarizing.
- recognize that a summary is much shorter than the original.
- list at least six types of writings that can be summarized.
- identify the most important message of a passage and the unnecessary descriptions and examples that can be removed.
- recognize that summaries can be too short.
- demonstrate mastery by correctly responding to ten multiple choice questions.
How to Summarize, Full Version comes with a word search and a crossword puzzle. Additionally, all "Free Trial" stamps have been removed.
With the presentation itself and both puzzles, an entire class period will be needed to complete all of the activities.
